Katniss Everdeen, from the Hunger Games, in her first interview dress. In the book, it's described as heavily jeweled, and when Katniss moves or twirls, it looks like she's on fire. I understand why they made different design choices for the film... but I liked the dress in my head.
I've been working on this particular Katniss for a few weeks, since before the film came out. She has a black ribbon under-skirt, then the skirt, which is made from gathered red-gauze ribbon, hand-beaded in flame colours. The bust of the dress is a thinner red satin ribbon, with beaded flames stitched on, and there's a single shoulder strap made from very skinny satin ribbon with red beads. The whole thing really does glitter, even in dim light, and as you can see, the sunlight really illuminates the dress.
Katniss' hair is in a braid which starts at her left ear, as described, and goes over her head to hang down the other side, with interwoven red threads. I'm still trying to find a way to make her gold - I might experiment with glitter, or make-up m - and I also still need to do something about the flame designs on her arms, but I just wanted to share her as she is now.
this is so cuuutte!!!!! i love the way the beads stand for flames and putting her hair in classic braid style, instead of that fancy hairdo in the movie.
